FOUR PATHWAYS

2026 Goals for the Climate Business Working Group

The Climate Business Working Group exists to mobilize business leadership as a driving force in addressing the climate crisis. In 2026, we will focus on expanding strategic partnerships and practical tools that empower companies to understand, reduce, and adapt to their climate impacts—while strengthening long-term business resilience and competitiveness.

To support this mission, the Climate Business Working Group has identified four action pathways that Climate Business Team members can introduce and advance with businesses across their chapter locations. These pathways—Resiliency, Clean and Affordable Electricity, Advocacy, and Farm-to-Market / Food Security—offer accessible, solution-oriented entry points for organizations of all sizes and sectors. Together, they provide actionable strategies and resources that enable businesses to take meaningful, measurable steps in responding to the climate crisis.

Resiliency

Translating climate science into business-relevant insights that help leaders assess operational risk, supply chain vulnerabilities, and workforce stability.

Clean, Affordable Electricity

Partnering with technical experts to provide practical guidance on transitioning from fossil fuels to clean power – demonstrating the profitability, efficiency, and speed-to-market advantages of electrification.

Advocacy

Amplifying business voices with legislators and local elected officials to advance climate-smart policies that enable energy savings, economic resilience, and long-term competitiveness.

Farm-to-Market / Food Security

Strengthening local food systems by addressing climate-driven production risks and connecting small businesses to more resilient regional supply chains.
